Living Dolls Showcase is a go go bar located on Pattaya’s famous Walking Street. Also known as Living Dolls A-Go-Go this is one of the better known and more established places in the city. This venue is not to be confused with Dolls go go bar or any of the infamous sex doll brothels of Japan.
This is probably one of the better looking agogos on Walking Street. It’s nicely laid out so that everyone has a nice seat and look at what is going on. What is going on is dozens of Thai women in bikinis gyrating on stage.
This isn’t a hands on raunchy bar where everything goes. For the most part this is a place where customers buy a drink and watch the ladies dance. If they find a lady they fancy they can offer her a drink. In fact most of the women here seem to be more interested in drinks than anything else. Commissions and quotas of course.
Plenty of the ladies will leave the bar with guys in the right situation. Though it’s mostly a matter of short time sex. Faux relationships are largely a thing of the past. And even long term overnight sessions are becoming rarer.
The ladies at Living Dolls
Living Dolls go go arguably has one of the best lineups in all of Pattaya. Sure beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Different guys have different tastes and interests. The staff at these sorts of places can change from one night to the next too. But when writing a review like this I try to take a general overview based on long term trends.
This bar has always been known for its higher grade of lady. That doesn’t mean the women who work here are better people than dancers at Windmill or even freelances on Thai Friendly. But in general terms of looks the average guy will be more likely to find the many ladies at working the stage at Living Dolls to be more attractive than the lineups at many other go gos and bars. And I can’t say that I disagree.
On any given night the ladies working at Living Dolls will mostly look like they came right out of a Creampie Thais video. Nice tight bodies, smooth legs and pert bums are the norm.
Not every woman at Living Dolls is a shining gem. But the management does at least make some effort to restrict employment to fit and attractive women. In days gone by that would have gone without mention. But with so many bars struggling to staff bars with even average women we are now living in different times.
Living Dolls ladies and prices
Even though Living Dolls has a staff of good looking ladies I am not nearly as enthusiastic as I would have been about the place even a few years ago. Maybe it’s me. But maybe it’s a lot more.
A couple of years ago a reader called Callavera left a comment here saying, “Visiting an Agogo is not about the beauty of the interior or the assumed beauty of the dancers but about the experience provided to the visitor”. I wholeheartedly agree.
I could go into prices at Living Dolls. Indeed I do on almost every review I write. But at this point it seems redundant to point out that the prices at Living Dolls are much higher than bars of this sort were charging when this site went online a mere ten years ago. Of course everything has gone up everywhere. So as not to be written off as a bitter old time or cheap charlie I will simply say that a night out at Living Dolls isn’t necessarily inexpensive. In other words this is not a budget option.
But that’s not all. I have reviewed places charging hundreds or thousands of dollars. So what gives? Knowing all I have covered over the years some may think it’s crazy to say a 3000 Baht ($85 USD) short time session is high. After all escorts in other parts of the world can charge thousands of dollars! But this is not other parts of the world. This is Thailand.
There are also other things to consider. Like barfines and lady drinks. Both of which continue to increase as time goes on. Sometimes even outpacing the already tough to deal with levels of inflation. Yet without offering any real increase in value.
Living Dolls and the situation today
Nowadays it’s not uncommon for a dancer in a Thai go go bar to take a lady drink from you only to return to stage or another punter less than a minute later. When this is the case you wonder why you would bother.
Least we forget, Pattaya started as a rest stop for soldiers on rest and relaxation. Before that it was nothing more than a sleepy fishing village. Bars sprung up to be satisfy the needs of military men. Soon the bars were filled with women. Once the war in Vietnam ended the town transformed into more of a holiday location. Discharged soldiers returned bringing their friends with them. Word of mouth spread. Pattaya was born as a beach city drawing in people from all around the world.
But what is that drew in the people? A combination of things. Tropical climate and beach. Lots of available and attentive ladies. Attractive women. Easy sex. And let us not forget about the affordable prices.
You could say that things change. I of course recognize this. And I accept it. But that doesn’t mean I have to like the way things have turned out everywhere that I go. If that means I have been superseded by reality then so be it. I try to look at things objectively but I can’t help but take my own perspective into account.
As it stands Pattaya seems to be recovering from the long global shutdown nicely. Walking Street is filled with people most nights. And bars like Living Dolls have plenty of people in the seats. So the market obviously supports the prices and even the business model. But let’s also remember that things can change in the other direction. There is no guarantee that this will go on forever. A straw may eventually fall hard enough to break the camel’s back. Or something else could come along as it did in early 2020.
I am not trying to make this a review of the world or even Pattaya as a destination. Yet I couldn’t help considering all of this when pondering my experience in the bar. Living Dolls has always been one of the more expensive bars in Pattaya though in the past it didn’t seem to matter as much. To its credit Living Dolls is a large professional establishment filled with beautiful and sexy Thai dancers. I guess that ought to be enough. For whatever reason it isn’t. Two-and-a-half stars.
