Demonia in Bangkok, Thailand

Demonia is a BDSM themed bar located in the heart of Bangkok. Unlike some other BDSM clubs found around the world this place comes complete with its own staff. The sex workers employed here are classified as either mistresses or slaves. In practice this means doms and subs. Though they could in fact all use some practice.

One gets the distinct feeling that for most of the staff at Demonia their work is really just a job. While that could be said of the vast majority of paid employees around the world you might expect something different from a dedicated fetish club.

You might expect a chef to have an interest in food or at least be familiar with cuisine on a deeper level than “turn on stove and cook”. But that is precisely the sort of by-the-numbers stuff you find from some of the ladies at Demonia. They basically just follow along as a part of the work.

Demonia vs BarBar

To be honest and fair I must admit that I am not personally aroused by the idea of BDSM as either a “top” or “bottom”. But that doesn’t mean I am not interested in the subject as an observer and report. Especially when it comes to venues like this. I last wrote about a place of this sort all the way back in 2014 when I reviewed BarBar in Bangkok.

Thailand BDSM mistress

BarBar is located in Patpong’s once-popular nightlife area. Demonia on the other hand is located right off of the main Sukhumvit strip in the middle of the city. It is just a short walk from the five star S31 Sukhumvit hotel and the massive Em Quarter luxury shopping mall.

Both Demonia and BarBar are owned by the same people. So they do have their similarities. But there are also differences between the two places apart from the locations. For example BarBar has a tout beckoning in customers from the street while Demonia is a much more discreet place that you have to find by seeking out the sign.

You can’t walk right in either. Instead you have to ring the bell and go through a short inquisition. It’s sort of like getting buzzed into one of the gentlemen’s clubs in Pattaya if slightly more involved. There is also a 1000 Baht cover charge ($29 USD) but that includes a drink and a show.

Inside Demonia is very well done. But it is smaller and more limited than BarBar. The place basically consists of a public bar area and some private rooms upstairs containing showers, beds, and St Andrew’s Crosses.

Staff and shows

There are just a few ladies working at Demonia. They are kitted out with mild fetish wear and there are some things around like chains and whips. Each customer gets a close up view of this when they enter.

As mentioned the entrance fee comes with a show. This basically consists of watching an overacting mistress give a couple of submissives some the hot wax and backside smacking treatment. I’m told that regulars who have a membership can skip these shows and get right into the action. But I am not regular at Demonia so I was forced to sit through the three minute long spectacle.

The mistresses clearly dominate the place and I don’t mean this as a joke. Demonia seems most oriented towards customers who want to be bossed around by a lady in charge. One gets the feeling that people with a dominant streak don’t get the same play. The mistresses are also clearly more into the S&M fetish than the so-called slaves who seem to be just earning a paycheck.

So it’s a lot more common to see some Asian guy tied up and getting a public spanking then it is to see any of the female staff getting a real rap across the backside. Outside of the brief and light introductory shows of course.

Services, prices and summary

And once that show is over the real business begins. Each drink costs 300 Baht. Even if you are good are stretching out your thirst there will be lots of asking for lady drinks. The gals employed here have no qualms about hitting customers up for 300 Baht lady drink after 300 Baht lady drink. The mistresses even include demands for lady drinks into their repertoire. I guess this is what they call financial domination?

In any event Demonia is not a cheap place to visit. Beyond the shows and constant demands for lady drinks there is the cost of any actual hands on service. The ladies want 3500 Baht ($101 USD) an hour for any kind of real interpersonal play. You might be able to have a mistress drag you around the public part of the bar by the balls in exchange for drinks and maybe a tip. But if you want to go upstairs and have your balls kicked in private you will have to pay. That will probably include multiple lady drinks ordered in between spanks too.

The prices are hardly the worst thing about Demonia. After all any dominatrix in the western world would charge a whole lot more. And for people with a fetish what they spend is usually a lot less important that what they receive. But the question here is what do they actually receive in exchange for their hard earned dosh?

From what I have seen this is more of a play place than anything serious. And since that’s the case it’s not all that much different from a themed go go bar like Spanky’s.

You have to give Demonia some credit. It is a BDSM club open to the public right in the middle of Bangkok. There has to be a lot involved in keeping such a business going for so many years. On the other hand the place doesn’t really deliver the goods.

Most of the few women in the bar don’t appear to be into the BDSM scene at all. Their efforts are half-hearted and it shows. I can imagine real serious BDSM players from around the world being disappointed in what they find at Demonia. In less of course they get off on being badgered for drinks.

Years ago I have BarBar a single star. I do think Demonia is slightly better. But not by much. That is why I am giving the place two stars. Perhaps some BDSM expert, submissive exhibitionist or foot fetishist will have another opinion.
