Shubman Gill is fast becoming Team India’s most successful batter in international cricket. He has been dealing in centuries in white-ball cricket, with the latest one coming against New Zealand in the third T20I.
His century led India to win by 168 runs in a series decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium. He struck 63-ball 126, laced with 12 fours and 7 sixes.
Former India player Irfan Pathan is Gill’s new fan but is still not convinced with his credentials in Test cricket.
Irfan feels Gill can’t beat Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, who are the main openers in red-ball cricket.
“Shubman Gill has cemented his place in ODIs and T20Is, but you can’t leave out Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul just because he has done well in the fifty-over format,” he said.
Gill is a part of the squad for the first two Tests against Australia.
