Rohit Sharma’s era has ended with Mumbai Indians deciding to remove him from captaincy. Hardik Pandya is Mumbai’s new skipper and will be at the helm of affairs from IPL 2024. Hardik was traded back to MI from Gujarat Titans for a fee of INR 15 crore.
Nikhil Naaz, who is a sports journalist, has revealed the real reason behind one of the biggest decision in the history of Mumbai Indians.
“Rohit Sharma’s poor returns with the bat is the reason why this transition is happening. Mumbai Indians were not concerned about Rohit’s captaincy but he was not able to perform as a batter. You don’t choose your captain and then the playing XI. You first pick your Playing XI and then the skipper,” Nikhil Naaz said on Sports Today.
Sharma is credited for making Mumbai one of the most successful and followed franchises. His five titles as a captain is enough to put him in the list of great leaders.
