Former cricketer Salman Butt recently stated that many cricketers praise the T20 leagues because they want to play in competitions. He was commenting on the popularity of the Pakistan Super League, which is in its eighth season.
He said that the tournament officials asked the players and commentators to tell good things on social media as a part of their strategies. Butt opined that irrespective of what these guys say, such competitions are not close to international cricket.
“The players want to remain attached to the PSL and other leagues. That is why we see many players lauding the tournaments. Many commentators are asked to say good things about a tournament on social media. You get the real answer if you ask a player,” he said on his YouTube channel.
Butt said that players leaving international cricket to play in T20 leagues would not benefit from it.
