One of the favourites for Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan, crashed out of the tournament after they suffered a two-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka in the Super Four round.
The Men in Green entered the tournament as the No.1 ranked ODI team in the ICC rankings, but after two straight defeats against India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan slipped to 3rd place.
However, the Men in Green can still reclaim the No.1 rank today, irrespective of the winner between India and Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final.

After India suffered a defeat against Bangladesh, they slipped to 3rd place, and Pakistan moved a spot up. Meanwhile, Australia, who are the table-toppers, suffered a 164-run defeat against South Africa in the fourth ODI and are now tied on ratings and points with Pakistan.
Australia are 1st on the rankings with 3112 points, and Pakistan are 2nd with 3102 points. Besides the Asia Cup final, the fifth ODI between South Africa and Australia is underway in Johannesburg, and if the Kangaroos suffer a defeat, Pakistan will again become the World No.1 team.
