Jos Buttler to leave international cricket for INR 40 crore

The T20 format is growing at a rapid pace as almost every cricket-playing nation has started its marquee T20 competition. With the addition of new leagues, IPL owners have expanded their dominance, as they now own several franchises in these budding leagues.

The IPL owners have their presence in ILT20, SA20, Caribbean Premier League, and Major League Cricket.

Ever since the expansion, the IPL owners have tried to rope in players to play for all their global franchises and for that, they have prepared contracts that ask the players to play for all their extended teams across leagues and give up their national contract.

In the latest development, Rajasthan Royals are planning to offer their star batter Jos Buttler a four-year-long deal to play for RR and other teams of the same management. Currently, Jos plays for RR in IPL and Paarl Royals in SA20 but does not play for Barbados Royals in the CPL.

By signing the contract, Buttler would have to give up on his international contract and seek RR management’s permission to play white-ball cricket for The Three Lions. He has been reportedly offered INR 40 crore for 4 years.

Besides Buttler, MI were also reported to present a similar proposition to Jofra Archer, while Jason Roy recently gave up his contract to sign a deal with KKR and will be next seen in the upcoming Major League Cricket (MLC) playing for LA Knight Riders.
