Jets vs. Raiders line, odds and predictions: Our experts split on who will win “Sunday Night Football”

Don’t expect a lot of points on “Sunday Night Football”  this week in Sin City. The Las Vegas Raiders are slight home underdogs as they welcome the New York Jets, who are on a short week after playing on Monday night. We again see two teams with subpar offenses in prime time, each averaging fewer than 20 points per game.

Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. The game will be televised on NBC.

The Jets are treading water without Aaron Rodgers, sitting at 4-4 with both the division title and a wildcard spot still possible. Rodgers took three-step drops and threw on the sideline Monday night. Zach Wilson will have to cut down on turnovers if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive; he’s lost four fumbles over the past two games and has just two turnover-free games all year.

The Raiders have had a tumultuous season, but firing Josh McDaniels seemed to be the spark this team needed to turn things around and prevent a three-game losing streak. Interim Raiders coach Antonio Pierce looks to start his NFL head coaching career off 2-0 after dominating the Giants in his debut, the team he helped lead to a Super Bowl championship in 2007.

The Jets boast one of the top defenses in the NFL, led by Sauce Gardner, DJ Reed, and their dominant secondary. New York’s defense ranks inside the top 10 in points per game (19.5), interceptions (8), passing yards per game (174.8) and is one of just nine teams that have given up fewer than 10 touchdowns through the air.

The blueprint to victory is eerily similar for both teams. They need their quarterbacks to play safe, mistake-free football and let the offense come from rushing the ball. Aidan O’Connell didn’t throw a touchdown in Week 9, but didn’t turn the ball over. Josh Jacobs rushed for nearly 100 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
