“I hope we don’t get into a situation where part-timers are needed”: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is hoping that part-timers are not needed in the remaining matches of the ICC World Cup 2023. He used nine bowlers in the last league match against the Netherlands in Bengaluru. While Rohit and Virat Kohli took one wicket each, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav went wicketless.

He attended a press conference on the eve of the semi-final against New Zealand.

“We were thinking to try different bowlers from game one of the the tournament but the situations didn’t allow us. We got a chance in the previous game and we made full use of it. It is good to have options but I hope they are not needed in the upcoming contests,” he said.

Team India had to change their combination after Hardik Pandya was injured during India’s clash with Bangladesh in Pune.

Mohammed Shani replaced him and went on to take 16 wickets in four matches. Although he failed to take a wicket in the game with the Dutch, his role will be crucial against the Kiwis at the Wankhede Stadium.
