I hate being called Sir – Ravindra Jadeja reveals the title he prefers over being called ‘SIR’

Ravindra Jadeja made a stunning comeback to cricket after being out of action for over six months following a knee injury during the 2022 Asia Cup. The 34-year-old, who won the player of the match in the opening game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for his five-wicket haul and fifty-plus run innings, has revealed that he hates being called sir.

Notably, former India skipper MS Dhoni gave Jadeja the title of ‘sir’. It was during IPL 2013 when Chennai squared off RCB. The Men in Yellow were required to win two runs off the final ball. Jadeja, who was on strike, hit the ball straight to the third man, but the delivery was a no-ball, resulting in CSK winning the game with a ball left, following which Dhoni tweeted that only Jadeja could score two runs on the final ball with a ball left and called him sir.

In the latest development, Jadeja has opened up on people calling him sir and said he hates that word. The 34-year-old said that people should call him Bapu instead.

“People should call me by my name. I hate being called sir. If someone wants to call me anything, they can refer to me as ‘Bapu’. This Sir-Var I do not like at all.”
