I don’t want to see those faces in the next T20 World Cup – Sehwag launches scathing attack on Indian players

India’s exit from the ICC T20 World Cup has raised several eyebrows, and the demands for removing aging players are louder than ever.

Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar was the first renowned figure to come down heavily on the players and said the team needs changes, and he sees a few players bidding adieu to this format.

The 73-year-old targeted players in their mid-30s and hinted at skipper Rohit Sharma and star player Virat Kohli.

The latest to speak on the same lines is former India opener Virender Sehwag. Moments after the defeat against England, Sehwag bashed the team for being clueless and criticized the slow starts in the tournament.

Sehwag also wants to see a new, fresh unit go into the 2024 T20 World Cup. “I want to see a few changes and do not want to see certain faces in the next edition of the T20 World Cup.”

“It happened in the 2007 T20 World Cup. A bunch of youngsters went, and nobody expected anything from them. The seniors were not a part of that squad. I want to see a similar sort of team filled with youngsters. Nobody expects them to win, but you will build a team for the future.”

The ace opener expressed his concerns over this happening in reality. “We have a new selection committee coming up in December. It will be a new management approach, so will they make these changes? Because the changes are necessary, you do not want to see non-performing seniors in the team.”

“If India goes to the next T20 World Cup with the same players, the result will be the same.”
