I could become the worst captain – Pat Cummins ahead of the India-Australia Test series

Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has said that he could become the worst captain if his team fails in the upcoming games. The pacer reckons he could see a change in his fortune.

Australia have a competitive 2023 schedule, starting with a four-Test tour of India in February and the Ashes in England. They haven’t won a Test series in India since 2004, while the last Test series win in England was in 2001.

“From being the captain of the best Aussie team to the worst. These are the biggest 10 Tests you will play in your career, and we are doing it in the next few months,” he told The Age.

The 29-year-old initially thought he was not fit for the captaincy role.

“I hate the job, thinking I made a big mistake. The first spell was not upto the mark. My mind was worried about field placements and other things. Then after bowling another spell. I was relaxed. But it made me understand why people thought I shouldn’t take the role.”

Cummins made his Test captaincy debut in Brisbane in the 2021-22 Ashes series and hasn’t looked back since then.
