Notably, former England skipper Michael Vaughan stated that he heard rumours of David Warner and Steve Smith retiring after the Ashes series. In recent events, Smith has cleared the air and remarked that he is not going anywhere.
“I am not retiring. I have no idea where this report emerged. I have not said anything to anyone, and I am not going anywhere yet.”
Further, Smith stated that he played one of his best innings in recent times. “I feel pretty good. Today is the best I played outside of the WTC final. I would have loved to get a hundred, but two centuries in the last six games is good.”
Smith scored 71 (123) in the first innings, which featured six fours.
