Former India players Harbhajan Singh and Sanjay Manjrekar were criticizing Glenn Maxwell for his shot selection and consistency before the Australia all-rounder went on a hitting spree against the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023.
While Bhajji lambasted Maxwell for not playing straight, Manjrekar questioned his consistency. However, the two soon changed their stance and started praising the right-handed batter for his exhibition of big hits.
“It is good to play straight but the way Maxwell goes for his shots shows that he lacks maturity,” said Bhajji.
“He will never be consistent as he goes for glory strokes,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.
The two were soon seen going gaga over Maxwell’s hitting.
“He is a class batter and can change the game. He is very talented and plays difficult shots,” Harbhajan said.
“What a player. You can’t control Maxwell. It is raining sixes in Delhi because of him,” said Manjrekar.
He was dismissed after scoring 106 runs off 44 balls, with the help of 9 fours and 8 sixes.
