Five lesser-known facts about KL Rahul’s would-be wife, Athiya Shetty

Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty and Indian cricketer KL Rahul have been in a relationship for more than three years and are all geared up to tie the knot early next year. The duo has maintained a low-key relationship, but the fans and media personnel have often spotted the love birds together. Athiya, daughter of the famous Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty and producer Mana Shetty, was born on November 5, 1992, in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Athiya has been a Bollywood buff since growing up and made her debut with the Salman Khan-backed movie Hero in 2015. The 30-year-old has not enjoyed a fruitful career in the Hindi film industry and has featured in just three movies in seven years, with her last release, Motichoor Chaknachoor, hitting theatres in 2019. Besides Hero and Motichoor Chaknachoor, Athiya acted in Arjun Kapoor starrer Mubarakan and had a special appearance in Nawabzaade.

According to the reports, Athiya met and fell in love with Rahul when her last film was released. The couple made their relationship public after Athiya was spotted supporting Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and toured abroad with him for international matches.

Further, Rahul too was spotted at Athiya Shetty’s brother Ahan Shetty’s debut movie ‘Tadap’s premier. In the latest development, The BCCI has granted Rahul a break from the Sri Lanka series to get married. This article will focus on five lesser-known facts about Rahul’s would-be wife, Athiya Shetty.

1. Athiya Shetty is superstitious

Being superstitious is considered a thing of the past, but research shows that the young generation has seeds of superstition, and Athiya Shetty is no different. The 30-year-old has admitted the same and revealed that more than her parents, she is close to her grandparents. According to Athiya, her grandfather is modern and liberal, but her grandmother believes in superstitions. Athiya said that she believes in superstitions and waits for a while if a black cat crosses her path.

2. Athiya and her dad Sunil Shetty’s movie was released on the same date

One of the most feared things about a star kid making a career in Bollywood is to combat the expectations to do better or replicate their parent’s success. With all respect, Athiya failed to make a name for herself in the industry, but one thing that would be special for her throughout her career is to have her debut movie released on the same day as her father’s first film. Athiya’s Hero hit theatres on September 11, 2015, 23 years after Sunil Shetty’s debut movie Balwaan, which hit the screens on September 11, 1992. Sunil and Athiya reacted shockingly to the news as they revealed that they had not planned this since Hero was supposed to release in July.

3. Not her father, but Aishwarya Rai inspired her to join the films

Sunil Shetty is one of Bollywood’s most respected, proclaimed, and influential figures. Thus, it is natural for everyone to assume that he influenced his daughter Athiya to join Bollywood. However, the actress has revealed that it was not her father but Aishwarya Rai who inspired her to join films. Athiya said that as a child, she often visited her father’s set and once went to JP Dutta’s Umrao Jaan, where she saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, all dressed up, inspired her to join the world of glamour and present herself in front of the camera.

4. Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor were her seniors at school

Athiya Shetty did her schooling at the American School of Bombay, where several notable Bollywood celebrities have studied. Athiya revealed that Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor were two years seniors from her. She was in awe of Kapoor, who was perfect at everything. She revealed that Shraddha used to choreograph her, Tiger, and his sister for school performances.

5. Athiya is a sports lover, but cricket is not on her list

Athiya revealed that she is a big sports lover and outdoor sports are a big part of her life. Athletics is Athiya’s first choice, but she loves watching football and basketball. She does watch cricket to support her would-be husband and is always there to cheer for him from the stands.
