Renowned English Performance Director, Mo Bobat, who played a pivotal role in shaping the England Cricket team, is set to bring his expertise to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the newly appointed Director of Cricket. This significant announcement comes in the wake of the departure of Mike Hesson earlier this year, as revealed by the IPL side on Friday.
Having been an integral part of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) since 2011, Bobat boasts an impressive track record, overseeing triumphs in both Twenty20 and 50-over World Cups. His tenure with the ECB will come to a close in February 2024. Notably, Bobat has previously collaborated closely with the current Bangalore coach, Andy Flower, during Flower’s leadership of the England team.
“RCB has a recognized fan following and is one of the most well-known franchises in the globe. Serving them will be an enormous honour,” Bobat wrote on X.
Bobat is eagerly anticipating the collaboration with Andy Flower.
“To take over and bring the success that RCB wants, I’m particularly looking forward to collaborating closely with Andy Flower, someone I know well,” he added.
The appointment of Andy Flower as the head coach of RCB took place in August, replacing Sanjay Bangar after the team secured a sixth-place finish in the latest edition of the IPL.
