Chris Woakes faces issues with his helmet, shows it to the umpire to escape getting ‘timed-out’, see pics

During the Sri Lanka- Bangladesh match on November 6, Angelo Mathews entered the history books after he became the first player to be given ‘timed-out’ in cricket. Shakib Al Hasan played a pivotal role as he appealed to the umpire that Mathews exceeded his 2-minute time limit set as per the rules to face the first delivery.

Mathews was devasted to be given out as he had a genuine equipment malfunction after his helmet strap got broken. Shakib was heavily criticised for not upholding the spirit of the game. Nonetheless, that episode has set an example for other teams to take care of this aspect.

In the latest events, a similar instance occurred during the England-Netherlands match, where Chris Woakes had issues with his helmet and immediately told the umpires and the Netherlands bowler about it. Woakes also took a dig at Shakib Al Hasan, as he jokingly asked the umpire how much time was left for him to be given ‘Timed-out.’ Here are some of the pictures.

It is a crucial game for England as they sit last on the table but need to win this match to stay alive in the race to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
