Australia settle score with India, register win in ODI series


Australia women defeated India women in the second ODI to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The Women in Blue fell short by 3 runs while chasing 259.

Alyssa Healy failed to give a good start to Australia and she was dismissed after scoring 13 runs. Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry struck half-centuries to give much needed momentum to the total.

Alana King (28 not out), Georgia Wareham (22) and Annabel Sutherland (23) struck big blows to take Australia women to 258/8 in 50 overs.

Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, taking a five-wicket haul against the Aussies.

Yastika Bhatia departed after scoring just 14 runs but Smriti Mandhana (34) added crucial runs with Richa Ghosh, who amassed 96 runs off 117 balls. Jemimah Rodrigues (44) and Deepti Sharma (24 not out) played good knocks but the team was restricted to 255/8 in 50 overs.

Annabel Sutherland ( 3 wickets) and Georgia Wareham ( 2 wickets) didn’t allow the rival batters to score freely.
