Chennai Super Kings need a captain for IPL 2025 as MS Dhoni is likely to retire after the upcoming season of the tournament. The five-time champions didn’t go for any captaincy material in the recently held auction.
According to Vikrant Gupta, the famous sports journalist, the Men in Yellow are looking at Rishabh Pant to take Dhoni’s place from the 18th season of the league.
“There is a strong possibility of Rishabh Pant leading Chennai Super Kings from IPL 2025. The upcoming edition is most likely to be Dhoni’s last and there is no one in the current squad who can take his place.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad is a good batter and has done well for the franchise. But he can’t lead a franchise like CSK. Ruturaj will get a lot of money in the future but not as a skipper,” he said on Sports Tak.
Earlier, former India player Deep Dasgupta had predicted the same. The southpaw is currently associated with Delhi Capitals and will make a return after missing the previous edition.
