Australian PM opens up about slip fielding skills in Pakistan warm-up game

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared insights into his cricketing skills during Pakistan’s warm-up game against Australia PM XI. The 60-year-old, reflecting on the match, modestly stated that he was a decent slip fielder.

In response to a query about joining the playing XI, Albanese, in an interview with Fox Sports, humorously declined the idea.

“No way! Australia should have someone better than me with a baggy green cap. I wasn’t that great, but I enjoyed watching cricket. My skills were okay in the slips,” he said.

Albanese took pride in the fact that under his leadership, the PM XI had never faced defeat in a game. He commended off-spinner Todd Murphy for his noteworthy performances with the ball in the Tests against India and England earlier in the year.

“During my leadership, the PM XI hasn’t experienced a loss. Although we haven’t won a game, last year ended in a draw, but we were dominant against the Windies. Notably, Todd Murphy emerged last year. I believe his performance in the PM’s XI game boosted him, and he went on to play Tests in India and the Ashes,” he added.
