Speed Group launches Career Advancement Program with Hinchcliffe, Lee

Motorsports management company Speed Group has launched a driver career advancement program led by new Speed Group member Kevin Lee alongside co-founder James Hinchcliffe.

The Speed Group Career Advancement Program offers a range of services to help individuals grow in their careers. This includes mentorship with Hinchcliffe, where drivers will have both pre- and post-event meetings, receive detailed driver reports, and get guidance off the track. The program also covers strategy aspects such as contract review, consultation, negotiation, series and team options, team liaison, and education and support for acquiring sponsors. Media-related support is provided too, including coaching, social media training, and on-event interviews with Lee and Hinchcliffe. Additionally, sponsorship and business-to-business strategy will be provided alongside extended networking opportunities.

“Speed Group has been a passion of ours for a decade now,” said Hinchcliffe. “From the beginning we’ve wanted to help young drivers and their families navigate the world of motorsport. And now, with my career transitioning, it’s given me the time to dedicate more energy to this project. I’m excited about this new program, about Kevin joining the team with his wealth of knowledge and experience, and what the future holds for the drivers we work with.”

Lee, a respected host and reporter for NBC Sports covering IndyCar, IMSA, select NASCAR events, and college basketball, brings a wealth of experience to the Speed Group team. His roles as a play-by-play announcer for college basketball and NFL games for Westwood One Radio, along with broadcasting for the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts, Big Ten Network, and Fox Sports, showcase his diverse expertise.

In addition to his broadcasting chops, Lee has guided the racing career of his son Jackson, and will draw upon both skill sets in the new advancement program. Penske Entertainment

In addition to his media background, Kevin has successfully managed the career and sponsorship/partner program for his son Jackson, guiding him from karts to USF Pro 2000 and sports cars.

“I’m looking forward to working with other drivers and families,” said Lee. “I had a pretty good grasp on motorsports as a broadcaster, but there is so much more! I have really enjoyed learning about the business and behind the scenes aspects in the last few years while helping my son, Jackson, navigate his career. It’s very easy to make mistakes, and some can be costly. We want to help drivers avoid them and also help develop them on and off track to separate from the competition.”
