The rain has been pouring consistently in Colombo since morning which has made the possibilities of play on the reserve day doubtful. Notably, India, batting first, were at 147/2 when the rain poured in heavily at the Premadasa Stadium on Sunday, September 10.
After hours of play, the rain did not stop, and the umpires pushed the game to reserve day, which is today, Monday. In a delight for the fans, the rain stopped at 2:40 pm, and the groundsmen were taking the covers off before the rain kicked in just five minutes before the start of the play.
As of now, there is a heavy downpour at the Premadasa Stadium, and the umpires have not had the time to inspect the pitch. The weather forecast has predicted that there will be heavier rainfall later in the day.
