After spending billions in the ongoing transfer market in football, Saudi Arabia is looking to turn its eye to cricket. Recently, the chairman of the Saudi Cricket Board, Prince Saud bin Mishal al-Saud said that he wants to turn the nation into a global cricketing destination.
Currently, BCCI and the IPL offer the most lucrative contracts in the world. However, England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes has reflected on Saudia Arab’s decision to invest in cricket and remarked that it would be difficult to compete with them.

Stokes said that the billions to be invested by Saudi could transform the sport, and it would be hard for the players not to get lured by such massive contracts.
“You cannot compete with Saudi. The amount of money they are throwing in other sports is remarkable. I think in the next five years, Saudi will take their sport to a new level.”
Notably, Saudi oil giant Aramco has partnered with ICC and will sponsor the ICC World Cup 2023, set to begin in India from October 5.
To talk about football, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Karim Benzema, and several other big names from Europe have moved to Saudi.
