Rashid Latif rates Babar Azam’s captaincy

In a recent interview, former wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif lauded Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, highlighting the remarkable transformation he has undergone in his role as a leader. Latif commended Azam’s growth, both as a batsman and as a captain, showcasing a substantial advancement in his leadership abilities.

Latif, a cricketer-turned-expert, pointed out Azam’s noteworthy feat of consistently scoring significant runs even after shouldering the responsibilities of captaincy. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, Latif expressed his opinion on the positive changes Azam has brought to the team’s dynamics:

“The trajectory of Babar’s contributions to Pakistan cricket is emblematic of a truly exceptional player. His ability to maintain a high level of run-scoring consistency is commendable. In the face of skepticism surrounding his performance after assuming captaincy, Babar defied all odds by not only maintaining his form but significantly enhancing it. This evolution underscores his maturation as a captain. His decision-making with regard to team selection, which was once perceived as a weakness, has undergone a marked improvement. The Babar of today is distinctly different from the player he was merely two years ago. He has effectively gleaned lessons from his past mistakes.”

The forthcoming cricket calendar places Babar Azam in a pivotal role as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team. With the imminent Asia Cup 2023 and the subsequent ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the team will look up to him to set a leading example both on and off the field.
