India thumped West Indies by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test at Dominica on Friday, riding on a sensational 171 by debutant Yahasvi Jaiswal.
Apart from him, Ravichandran also contributed to India’s victory as he claimed 12 wickets in the match. Rohit Sharma (103) and Virat Kohli (76) were also instrumental with the bat as India declared their innings on 421/5.
Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed the hosts for only 130 in the second innings.
Former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim lauded R Ashwin for his bowling effort. “He is always willing to learn. In the game, he could make out the weakness of the batters and bowled accordingly,” he said.
“Ashwin has been active in international cricket for over a decade but brings out something new every time he comes up to bowl. He keeps adding new things to his bowling.”
