Bloody… I want to give him: Virat Kohli’s exact words that boiled Gambhir’s blood; sparked ugly spat in IPL 2023

The clash between the Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1 at the Ekana Stadium saw on-field conflicts between the players and support staff. Virat Kohli, the only player from RCB, had a heated exchange with Naveen-ul-Haq, Amit Mishra, Kyle Mayers, and Gautam Gambhir of LSG.

The events began with Kohli’s loud send-offs and celebrations during the LSG chase. Then, in the 17th over, Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq got into a fight. Amit Mishra attempted to step in, but Kohli slammed him as well. After RCB’s 18-run victory, the teams lined up for handshakes, but Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli once again clashed. The two were separated by Glenn Maxwell.

Later Kohli and LSG opener Kyle Mayers were seen talking and that’s when LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir came forward and took Mayers away.

Kohli and Gambhir were seen walking in opposite directions, before LSG mentor charged at Kohli.

A newspaper reported Vira Kohli’s exact words that boiled Gambhir’s blood. “Bloody f***. I want to give him a sendoff.” Gambhir heard it and and lost his cool.

Gautam asked “Kya bol raha hain bol”(What were you saying?) and Virat replied, “Maine aapko kuch bola hi naahin, aap kyon ghus rahein ho” (Why are you coming in between when I haven’t told you anything).

Gautam responded, ‘Tuney agar mere players ko bola hai, matlab tune meri family ko gaali diya hai.” (You abused my player and that’s like abusing my family) and Virat’s reply was, “Toh aap apne family ko sambhal ke rakhiye.” (Then you take care of your family).

Gambhir’s final reply before they were separated was, “Toh ab tu mujhe sikhayega…”(So now, I have to learn from you…).”

Only a few hours after the incident, the BCCI fined Gambhir, Kohli, and Naven. While Naveen was fined 50%, Gambhir and Kohli each lost 100% of their respective match fees.
