KL Rahul, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team, has been caught on camera seemingly abusing one of his teammates during their match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. LSG suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season as they failed to defend a target of 160 runs.
LSG was asked to bat first, and despite Rahul and Kyle Mayers providing a decent start with a 53-run partnership for the first wicket in 7.4 overs, the team’s scoring rate was below par. Rahul, who scored 74 runs but consumed 56 balls, hit only one six and eight boundaries in his knock. No frontline batsman could score at more than 150.00, which ultimately cost LSG.
Despite this, Rahul was still confident that his side could defend the target and was quite active on the field. He also expected the same energy from his players and got angry at one of his teammates after a misfield. The incident happened after the 16th over, in which Mark Wood leaked 13 runs.
In a viral video on social media, Rahul can be seen getting angry at a player and seemingly abusing him for the missed opportunity. While it’s unclear who the player was, the incident has caused a stir among fans and critics alike.
The PBKS team, on the other hand, played exceptionally well and completed the chase on the third delivery of the 20th over. Sikandar Raza played a key role in the win and slammed a half-century, while Shahrukh Khan’s cameo of 23 off just 10 balls proved to be the game-changer.
While it’s not uncommon for players to show emotions on the field, Rahul’s outburst raises questions about his leadership skills and whether he crossed a line in his behavior towards his teammate. It’s important for players to maintain their composure and lead by example, especially in high-pressure situations like IPL matches.
