Shahid Afridi, who recently completed his stint of interim chief selector, was surprised by Najam Sethi’s plan to bring Mickey Arthur as Pakistan’s online coach. He was also unhappy with PCB’s interest in foreign coaches and said that Pakistan has many former players who can coach the national team.
According to reports, Arthur will be coaching Pakistan primarily online until the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.
“I don’t know what type of coaching will happen and what’s the plan. The concept of online coaching is beyond my understanding,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
“Why only foreign coaches? Pakistan has many former players who can coach the national team. We need a person who can take tough calls for the betterment of cricket in Pakistan,” he added.
